Building a Career Centered on Helping Others
My path to social work has been shaped by the belief that meaningful work should have a positive impact on the lives of others. I am currently completing my Bachelor of Social Work at Florida Atlantic University while working full-time in the behavioral health field. Balancing my education with my career has been challenging, but it has allowed me to take what I learn in the classroom and apply it directly to real-world situations.
Professionally, I work as a case manager supporting individuals experiencing mental health and substance use challenges. My work includes helping people access resources, coordinate care, pursue employment and volunteer opportunities, and work toward greater stability and independence. Over the years, I have also had opportunities to take on leadership responsibilities, including supervising staff. These experiences have taught me that effective leadership comes down to leading by example, being dependable, and being willing to listen and learn from the people around you.
Education has become another important part of my journey. At FAU, I have worked hard to excel academically while maintaining my professional responsibilities. I currently have a 3.97 FAU GPA and have maintained a 4.0 GPA for three consecutive semesters. I was also named to both the President's List and the Dean's List in the Fall of 2025 and Spring of 2026.
Service extends beyond my career as well. Since 2024, I have served as a volunteer and board member with the Friends of the Boca Raton Library Bookstore. Being involved in my community has reinforced my belief that making a difference does not always require a grand gesture. Sometimes it simply means consistently showing up, contributing time and abilities, and being willing to help where you are needed.
As I complete my BSW, I am preparing for my final field education experience and the next stage of my education. My goal is to pursue a Master of Social Work degree, complete the requirements for clinical licensure, and ultimately become a therapist. I hope to combine my education with the experience I have gained in behavioral health to help people navigate difficult periods in their lives and create meaningful, lasting change.
Outside of school and work, I enjoy home improvement projects, working on cars, and playing pickleball. These interests give me opportunities to work with my hands, solve problems, stay active, and continue learning in completely different ways
My journey so far has taught me that growth rarely happens all at once. It comes from consistently showing up, remaining willing to learn, and continuing to move toward the person and professional you want to become. I am proud of what I have accomplished so far, but I am even more excited about where my education and career will take me next.
