Dream Careers - New York City

Aug 25,2014

This summer, Dream Careers gave me the opportunity to go to New York to participate in a 3-week Investment Banking Immersion Program. As a rising sophomore, I had no background in any sort of business classes while other people in the program were about to be seniors, already graduated or even had their CFA. Having said that, the class was very informal but while being very informative and the professor never made me feel like I was lagging behind. He always understood when I stayed quiet because I didn’t know how to answer a question. I still feel like I learned a lot though and I know it will definitely give me a head start this year now that I will be taking my intro-to-business classes. When we weren’t in class, Dream Careers provided plenty of opportunities to network and just explore the city by providing Speaker Series and tourist attractions such as a broadway show, a bus tour through downtown, a chance to go up to the top of the Rockefeller Center, and a cruise down the Hudson River. The rest of the time was basically our own. Overall, I loved the experience and I feel like I got a lot out of it. I’d definitely recommend doing one of their programs if you ever get a chance.
