Introduction: Ashley Ramirez

May 14,2015

As one of the newest bloggers for HonorSociety.org, I would like to take the time to introduce myself to my fellow bloggers and readers.  My name is Ashley Ramirez, Scott is my married last name but I have yet to change it for school, and I am a senior at the University of Houston-Victoria.  I am a communications major by default, my first-degree choice was political science but that was not available at my school until this coming fall.  Darn!  I am a non-traditional student; married and have three children.  Although it has taken me a looong time to get to where I am now with my schooling, I feel that my perseverance and dedication will prove the importance of getting a college education early on to my children. Following graduation I am contemplating between grad school or getting a teacher certification, unless I start getting paid for my personal blog!

I found an interest in writing when I took Writing For Print Media with Macarena Hernandez (Wiki her name).  We were given assignments where we were to write letters to the editor, submit column pitches and columns to our local newspaper. We had to pick a genre and stick with it.  As a mother, wife and reclaimed full time student I decided to write about mommyhood.  Now, you can find me blogging weekly at www.mymomblogbyashley.com.

I hope to add a non-traditional students perspective to all things college life thru my blogging for HonorSociety.org.
