Honor Society® Expert FAQ

Should you pay to apply for a scholarship?

You should not pay a processing, redemption, or release fee to receive a promised scholarship. Many legitimate scholarship applications are free. An application fee or funding guarantee deserves careful scrutiny before you proceed.

Separate the award from an optional service

A business may charge for advising, editing, or scholarship-search assistance. Paying for such a service is different from winning an award and does not guarantee funding. Check what the service actually provides, its terms, and whether free help from your school would meet the same need.

For Honor Society® scholarships, no purchase or payment is required to apply. If an application requires an account, registration is free. Individual award criteria still apply, and submitting an application does not guarantee selection.

Put the answer into practice

  • Apply through the verified provider’s route.
  • Question any charge tied to releasing an award.
  • Read the terms before buying optional application assistance.
  • Ask a counselor or financial aid office about an unclear fee.

Start with the Honor Society scholarship listings or other verified providers. Do not allow a promised scholarship to pressure you into a purchase you do not understand.
