  • To be eligible for membership in the Society, candidates must be persons who have a record of outstanding academic accomplishment, who have shown dedication to intellectual activity, and who have accepted their responsibility of service to others. 
  • Undergraduate students shall have completed at least fifty percent of the credit requirements for their baccalaureate degrees and rank not lower than the highest twenty percent of their class in scholarship. 
  • Graduate students shall have completed one-half of the credit requirements for their degree and shall have a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale or its equivalent. 

What is the history of Delta Epsilon Sigma?

Delta Epsilon Sigma is a national scholastic honor society that was established in 1939 for students of Catholic universities and colleges in the United States. The society was founded at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa in 1939 by Father Fitzgerald.

Based on the information, here is our review:

Our first observation is: The primary focus of this society seems to be geared heavily towards religion, so it could be considered a niche society. Their academic standards seem on par with the average requirements. 

Our second observation was: that their website had minimal information, but from what we could pull, it appears this society has ample post-grad opportunities--a promising benefit. 

Our third observation was: that this society was formed less than 90 years ago, making it one of the newer honor societies to emerge.
