About
I am Aaseem Sidhu. I was born and brought up in India and I did my schooling till 11th grade over there. I came to the U.S.A in 2018 and started my 12th grade in Kimball High School, Tracy. It was a very different experience as one feels a change of shift and culture shock. There were many problems in the starting as it is hard to get settle down with your family and you also have to take care of your parents and give them support. With all the challenges, I managed my studies and made sure that there is no effect on my education because of the new challenges and problems. I managed to get straight A's in my 12th grade and an academic excellence award. I also got the letter from the Cal Grant as they look at my academics. It was an overwhelming year as I manage to do good in my studies even after coming from a different country, culture, and language. Right now I am enrolled in Las Positas College with psychology as my major. I am planning to transfer to the UC's in 2021 with Associates in Arts for transfer and my major is psychology. I am looking forward to my career path and will do my best to pursue my dream job that is to become a clinical psychologist. I am ready to work hard for it and gain new experiences in this journey. I always volunteer for programs or activities in which I feel I can help others and give my input for the betterment of society. I have volunteered in many such activities in my college while maintaining a 4 GPA in the last two semesters. I will continue to work hard and will try to do my best in every field.

Goals and interests
- Career goal
My intended job path is to work as a clinical psychologist in the future. I am very interested in educating myself about the human mind and how it works. I love getting knowledge about different emotions people have and the different ways they deal with it. Many people over the world face psychological problems but due to lack of awareness, the majority of them can't come forward for treatment. Many people are not even educated about psychological problems and mental. people still think that going to a psychologist and talking about mental health is a matter of shame. By choosing psychology I want to create awareness that mental health is as important as physical health and it is important to talk about it. I feel like with this I can give my small input in changing society for a better future.
- Graduate school interests
I love helping people in the best way I can and I love listening to them and their problems especially when can't find anyone else. I know how it feels when no one understands you or listen to you or when you can't find anyone to help you. So I always try to be there for others and help them in need. Considering this and my interest in the human mind and behavior I chose psychology as my major and I am looking forward to working as a clinical psychologist in the future. As I know 3 languages that are; Hindi, Punjabi, and English it will be a little advantage for me as I can help people from these three communities. other than my academics, I really like dancing and drawing and also a little bit of modeling. I am looking forward in giving myself some time in these areas in my grad school.
- Outside the classroom
My hobbies include dancing, traveling, art, and tracking. I also love playing badminton and want to continue it with the right guidance and instructions. I never knew I can draw really well till my senior year because I took an art class in that year. from there I found another creativity in me and since then I frequently draw and make sketches. Dance has been a great part of my life and has taught me so many things. I learned to dance when I was 4 years old and had been going into the competitions since then. Classical Dance, an Indian dance form is my strong foot. I have learned semi-classical dance and also performed live classical with all the instruments. I did my first live classical competition when I was in fourth grade and I was the youngest among all participants. I won 2nd prize in that competition. Through dance, I have learned how to express my self and my emotions. Dance has also taught me that failures are the part of life and you don't have to fear them instead they give the motivation to do better next time. I have also been playing badminton since I was in school and it is close to my heart because my grandfather taught me how to play. Right now I take classes for badminton in college and try to get better in it. My hobbies help me learn more about myself and they bring out the best in me.
