About

I am currently a Clinical Psychology major and Business minor at the University of California San Diego. After my bachelors degree I plan to obtain a MA in social work and a PsyD in clinical psychology. My goal is to open a private practice where I can help individuals, more specifically, individuals in low socioeconomic status communities where mental illness is stigmatized. I come from a culture where mental illness makes one seem 'crazy,' therefore, people avoid obtaining the help they need.
My parents instilled strong ethical and moral values in me. These values are one of the reasons why I am such a hard worker. I grew up in Tijuana, Baja California and I migrated to the United Stated when I was just 12 years old. Mastering a new language was a challenge I succeeded on, with so many other challenges ahead. I aspire to overcome every obstacle that comes my way and make a difference in the mental health organizations.

Goals and interests

Graduate school interests

I plan to obtain a Masters in Social Work in order to become a licensed clinical social work therapist. This degree will help me obtain more experience in the mental health institution for my ultimate goal. Eventually I will obtain my PsyD in Clinical Psychology which will allow me to help more individuals.

Outside the classroom

I enjoy being in contact with nature, therefore, hiking, picnics, and swimming would be my favorite outdoor activities. Also, I find it very satisfying to paint. Painting gives me a sense of freedom and serenity. Lastly, I really enjoy taking pictures. During high school I was part of the Yearbook committee for 2 years where I became the Executive Photographer. Yearbook showed me my talent and enjoyment for photography.
