I have struggled to discover what my true purpose in life was supposed to be. Through advising and community college, I still wasn’t able to get a full grasp on any long-term goals. Oakland University helped me find my true purpose through Social Work. I’ve always loved helping and talking with others, and this wonderful school taught me how to be better, how trust myself, how to be professional, and how to be wise. After I leave this chapter behind it’ll only expose me too more exciting adventures that social work has to offer. It was hard to imagine that I would ever get to this point in my life, but now that I’m here it was so worth it. The friends and all the people I’ve had a chance to encounter and meet, all need to take credit in my success because without them, things could have been much different.

I know that after graduation I will be saying goodbye to a lot of wonderful people. With this said, staying connected and having the friends I have made will only further my competency and my understanding and different perspectives from others.

We have the undeniable duty and responsibility to ensure that those who walk the path behind us, will be able to have the same advantages and experiences as we had. Like each famous philosopher, one man took up the impossible and made it possible. Once we have moved on, future social workers will start their exciting journey. My dreams will now be the reality I have worked for and dreamt of, what an exciting new time in my life.
