About

My name is Adelaide Yameogo, and I am pursuing an Associate of Applied Science in Professional Nursing at Rasmussen University. Throughout my academic journey, I have maintained a 3.51 GPA while working full-time as a Patient Care Technician and raising three children under the age of twelve. Nursing is more than a professional goal for me; it is a calling rooted in personal experiences, compassion for others, and a strong desire to make a meaningful difference in people's lives.
My passion for nursing began through experiences within my own family. Over the years, I have witnessed loved ones’ struggle with chronic illnesses and have endured the heartbreak of losing family members. During these difficult times, I often felt helpless and wished I possessed the knowledge and skills to better understand their conditions and provide more effective support. Those experiences inspired me to pursue a career in nursing, where I can offer compassionate, evidence-based care to patients while supporting families during some of the most challenging moments of their lives.
One of the greatest challenges I have faced has been balancing the demands of family, work, and education. As a mother of three young children, a full-time healthcare employee, and a full-time nursing student, my daily responsibilities are significant. There are moments when the demands of each role feel overwhelming. However, these challenges have strengthened my determination rather than discouraged me. I remain committed to my education because I know that becoming a registered nurse will not only create greater opportunities for my family but will also allow me to serve others in a meaningful and lasting way. Through these experiences, I have developed resilience, discipline, strong time-management skills, and an unwavering commitment to achieving my goals.
What distinguishes me from others is my dedication and perseverance. I understand that success is rarely achieved without obstacles. When faced with setbacks, I choose to learn from them rather than be discouraged. Each challenge has taught me valuable lessons about growth, adaptability, and persistence. These qualities have contributed to both my academic success and my professional development.
Service to others has always been a central part of my life. In addition to my work in healthcare, I volunteer at my children's school during events and activities. I also assist families in my community by providing transportation for students when parents are unable to do so. These acts of service have reinforced my belief that kindness, compassion, and support can have a meaningful impact on the lives of others.
My commitment to excellence is reflected in my academic and professional achievements. I am a member of the Honor Society and have maintained strong academic performance throughout nursing school. In my role as a Patient Care Technician, I have received recognition from patients, families, and coworkers for demonstrating compassion, professionalism, and quality patient care.
Receiving this scholarship would greatly reduce the financial burden of completing my nursing education. Because I previously earned a bachelor's degree in another field, I am not eligible for federal financial aid. This scholarship would allow me to focus more fully on my studies and continue striving for excellence. I am committed to using my nursing education to provide outstanding patient care, advocate for those in need, and make a positive impact within my community. Thank you for considering my application and investing in my future.
