About

My name is Aditya, I'm from India and I gradutaed from a reputed institution in 2011 with Computer Science as my major. After graduation, I went to work for Amazon.com where I joined as an Associate - Intern and supported the US, UK marketplace transaction monitoring and fraud prevention department. I worked at Amazon for 3 years and at the end of my term I was a Senior Fraud Investigator (or temporary Team Lead) for a group of 20 associates. I decided to pursue my Masters in Analytics at BGSU because I was exposed to the field of Data Science/Analytics during my years at Amazon and I saw the potential and growth this field has to offer. Right now, I'm in my 2nd semester (Spring) and my GPA for the 1st Semester (Fall) was 3.34 out of 4.0. I plan on learning Python before I finish my spring semester and I have Big data, Business Intelligence, Data Mining enrolled as core courses. I've already finished descriptive analytics (EDA) and predictive analytics (Regression) as part of my first semester. A final project for all the courses was integrated into the end semester grades which gave me the necessary hands on experience as well.

Goals and interests

Career goal

After graduating, I hope to join as a Data Analyst/Data Scientist at companies like Nike, Owen's Corning, Amazon which rely hugely on data or any company that takes care of analysis requirements for the NFL, NBA, MLB etc. Working with a sports company would be exciting. And then 3 years down the line, depending on the success I experience, I might be inclined towards pursuing an MBA to get into leadership roles. I already have prior experience of managing a team during my previous work years. Hopefully, things work out for me.

Graduate school interests

Fall Semester:
1) Regression Analysis - particularly multiple linear regression and logistic regression.
2) Exploratory Data Analysis - pattern recognition, data transformations and visual representations.

Spring Semester:
1) Big Data Analytics - really looking forward to learning Hadoop and it's applications.
2) Business Intelligence.
3) Data Mining.

Outside the classroom

1) I spend a majority of my time listening to music and playing my guitar and try to constantly evolve my taste. The next artist I'm gonna be checking out would be Nucleya. My current favorite artist is "The Weekend" and all time favorite being Led Zeppelin.
2) I played basketball during my undergraduate years for my school, Freshman, Sophmore and Junior years.
3) I'm getting into the habit of reading books as well - mostly non - fiction. Right now I'm reading a book called "The Selfish Gene by Richard Dawkins" which puts the Darwin's Evolutionary Theory into perspective and explain how selfishness and natural selection play a role in the survival of a species. And how this gene selfishness manifests into selfishness as a quality in human beings.
4) I have an interest in psychology. One go to book for any enthusiast would be to read "The Interpretation of Dreams by Sigmund Freud".
5) I also love trying Beers from different countries. So far I've covered Germany, Netherlands, Belgium and American beers.
