About

I am currently an exercise science major on the clinical health track at the University of Texas at Arlington. The fall of 2016 was the start of my academic career at the university and with this transition came a number of changes in my life. The first change included the way I would approach opportunities that came my way regardless of how little these opportunities seemed to benefit me in the immediate now. I took on an on campus work study position that pays far less than any other job I have ever committed to, plus I joined an on campus club that I would have otherwise considered a waste of time. As the fall semester continued I only flourished as a student and as a active member of my on campus organization. I continue to evolve in my position as a student worker, growing leadership skills, and enhancing my many-sided ingenuity in aiding in the operation of a 34.5 million dollar facility. My on campus organization voted me fundraising chair to the Society of Kinesiology Scholars, an organization I hold dear to my heart due to its efforts made in promoting health, wellness and fitness from ages of very young to old in the community. The position of building staff on campus at the Maverick Activity Center has been extremely resourceful. The kinesiology lectures and labs are conducted in the MAC on a daily basis and I am able to provide a positive familiar face not only to my fellow kinesiology peers but to my professors and mentors. I have ultimately centralized myself in the kinesiology department and with this a number of opportunities have been presented; participation in tutor sessions, participation in research being conducted, volunteer work as a research subject. All opportunities that will reinforce the work I will participate in my future career goals in the clinical health field.

Honors and awards

Goals and interests

Career goal

I am setting the groundwork to center myself in the health field. I look forward to further enhancing my professional growth in the health and science field. My ultimate job path includes rehabilitation with individuals dealing with or overcoming debilitating injuries or other health-related conditions that limit their abilities to move and perform functional activities in their daily lives. I look forward to working with individuals in preventing the loss of mobility before it occurs by developing fitness and wellness oriented programs for healthier and more active lifestyles. The goals include a job path of becoming a physical therapist.

Graduate school interests

I have a few grad schools of interests which all include a doctoral program in physical therapy. The University of North Texas in Fort Worth, UT Southwestern in Dallas and Texas Women's University in Dallas.

Outside the classroom

I enjoy cooking for a crowd. When it comes to family events or raising money for a good cause I love to feed the soul of others with food and fun desserts. I have also always been a very active individual and in high school I was voted first lieutenant of my dance team. From meditation to running and everything in between I enjoy the peace of mind and the healthy release of endorphins to the brain that physical activity provides (this may also correlate with why I enjoy food and laughter so much). Long distance cycling and commuting to school or work by bike by far are my favorite; you become much more aware of your surroundings and the changes that are happening in your community when you immerse yourself to alternative ways of commuting in your town.
