Aiden Wertz

When I was 10 years old, I came to the United States from China as an orphan, almost too old to be adopted. Born with club feet, I faced many physical challenges and was often bullied because of my circumstances. Despite these hardships, I was given a new beginning when I was adopted and brought to America. Arriving in a new country, I didn’t know any English. My mom homeschooled me, and through her guidance and my determination, I learned English in just two years. Restarting my education, I completed 12 years of schooling in only 8 years, graduating from Prairie Haven Academy Homeschool. The journey wasn’t easy, especially as I struggled with learning in a second language, but I remained focused on my dream. In addition to academics, I poured myself into sports, despite the physical challenges caused by my club feet. My determination sometimes pushed me beyond my limits, resulting in severe injuries that left me unable to walk for months. These experiences taught me perseverance, resilience, and the value of hard work, even in the face of pain and setbacks. Now, I am pursuing my lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian. I hope to serve my community and contribute to the agricultural field by caring for animals and supporting the people who rely on them.
