Many sees education as a privilege, but I didn’t at the earliest times of my life. I was a very brilliant and intelligent child who took part in several school and inter school competitions and debates, for me winning didn’t come with effort, all the best positions were mine. But the moment adults and parents started interfering in my career choice I drifted, I became lost living someone else’s dream. Slowly I began fading, losing competitions, gathering bad grades. I turned, lost all recognition and gradually swallowed by depression at Thirteen. I hide all my pain in faint inks and empty them all on papers, I wrote poems and stories. It became my safe space away from the chaos in my reality.
I didn’t get admitted to the study the course my parents chose for me (Law), I had always wanted to be an IT expert, but while studying English and International Studies at Osun State University which I was given instead, I secretly learn several tech courses, Volunteered for trainings, along side wining several writing contest, heading several Leadership posts, learning new languages and certification courses like (HRM) all this and more opened me to secrets about myself and my greater abilities.
Now I’ve found myself owning several Leadership positions, motivating younger minds, doing really well with my studies and also trying to expand my IT knowledge. Going this part is costly, especially as an international student. My parent ain’t that well off, I have other siblings who I wouldn’t want to deny the opportunity to do great things themselves. All this can only be possible if I am granted the assistance needed to purse my dream.
