About

I grew up on Hatteras Island in a small, close community where I learned responsibility, patience, and independence at a young age. I am a dual‑enrollment student graduating with both my high school diploma and an associate in science degree. Much of who I am comes from growing up alongside my brother, who has special needs, and from volunteering with Special Olympics. Those experiences shaped my compassion, leadership, and interest in animal science. I am now preparing to study Animal Science on the pre‑veterinary track with the long‑term goal of becoming an equine veterinarian.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I plan to become an equine veterinarian and eventually open my own farm and rehabilitation program where I can care for horses, support riders, and make equine services more accessible in my community.

Graduate school interests

I am interested in attending veterinary school after completing my undergraduate degree. My main focus is equine medicine, especially rehabilitation and sports medicine. I want to continue learning about horse health, treatment methods, and research that can improve care for both performance horses and therapy programs.

Outside the classroom

I enjoy working with horses, volunteering with Special Olympics, and spending time outside on the island. I like swimming, helping my brother with his projects, and exploring anything related to animal science. I also enjoy organizing things, learning new skills, and spending time with friends and family. When I have free time, I like relaxing at the beach, listening to music, watching movies, and going on small adventures around the island. I love riding my horse, spending time with my dogs, and even watching my fish swim around because it helps me unwind. I also enjoy trying new recipes and finding little ways to help out in my community. I like staying active, being around people and animals I care about, and finding hobbies that let me learn or relax.
