About

Soon after graduating high school, I arrived in the U.S. envisioning what my college life would be like. I remembered what the movies illustrated with students walking around happy on campus, engaging with professors, and taking advantage of student activities. I quickly learned that my path to a degree would start out much different. I am a first generation Elementary Education student at the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO. Education wasn't always the major I thought of pursuing when I decide to attend college. In fact, at 18 my heart was set on becoming a pediatrician, but my local community college did not have any majors close to what I wanted. Even though education wasn't always the field my heart was set on, I fell in love with working with young children and learning about what makes them unique. Nonetheless, the desire to be a pediatrician continue to be a strong desire of mine, but being an educator still allows me to watch my students develop mentally, socially, and physically. I'm happy that I made the switch to education, and as I continue to grow in my studies my goal is not only to be marketable, but also to become an effective teacher with a positive impact on each child that walks into my classroom.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I hold an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education, and currently studying to be an Elementary Education Teacher. My desire is to work in an urban setting, assisting students to reach their full potential not only an educator, but also as a mentor.

Graduate school interests

I love the idea of being in the classroom and working with students, but I also want to learn more in depth about child and family develop, the impact crisis have on child and family development, and how to better advocate for these families.
