About
I graduated high school on May 2025, and I am about to start undergraduate for astronomy and astrophysics. In academia, my focus-studies have been on science, math and language arts. Throughout high school, I have dedicated myself academically and through participation and have been lucky to be awarded for both.
In the academic arena, I’ve won several honors. I was named the Student of the Year in 2022, a designation that is decided by the faculty and administration of my school. That year, I received the highest science score from a MAP NWEA Growth test for high school students at my school. I've also gotten the highest English score on the map test three years in a row ( 2022, 2023, and 2024 ) showing how good my reading and writing is. I had the highest MAP math score in 2023 and the highest GPA for both 2023 and 2024 in my class.
I also received the Board of Directors Award in both 2023 and 2024; this award is given to a student who demonstrates abstract thought, multicultural awareness, and appreciation for the ideas and efforts of others. This prize is extremely meaningful to me because it values more than just academics, it shows how I take on the world, and how I engage with other people.
In addition to academics, I have participated in different school and community activities. I’ve been part of National Honor Society for several years, and I served as vice president in 2023–24. I also played a large role in creating our school’s Student Council and was elected as its vice president and now represent the senior class.
I’ve been playing with my volleyball high school team since 2022 and was a setter in 2024. I was also recruited as a team leader for the 2025 walking event for the American Cancer Association to build awareness and support for the fight against cancer.
I am also interested in math competitions. I got chosen to be part of the Math Olympiad team to represent my school in the year 2023 at a state level in Puerto Rico. I’ve also competed in Poetry Out Loud twice, coming in second at the regional level in 2023 and making it to the state semifinals in 2024.
I’ve participated every year since 2018 in both English Week and Spanish Week, where I have won at least one first-place prize in each event for at least a year.
