About
Hello! My name is Alessandra Sommer and I am a senior at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey – New Brunswick. In May, 2023 I will achieve a bachelors degree in Nutritional Science – Dietetics Option.
My experiences at Rutgers University have led to my current accomplishments including my involvement in research, co-authoring two published papers, being awarded with a fellowship, working as a learning assistant, and attending a national conference.
In the future, I look forward to completing an MSPH/DI program, obtaining my registered dietitian (RDN) credential and work as an entry-level dietitian in the public health sector where I can make a positive impact. I look forward to continuing my work on food waste that remediates climate change and to helping develop a more sustainable food system in the United States. Additionally, I am determined to improve the nutritional quality of foods in US schools and hospitals.
