About

My name is Alexis Lopez, and I will be a junior at the University of Alabama this fall. I was homeschooled from elementary school until my senior year. This enabled me to graduate a year early and continue full-time studies at Enterprise State Community College. I am a highly driven and academically motivated student. Being the best version of myself possible is one of my main objectives in my daily life. This includes maintaining an A in my classes, being involved on campus, volunteering at places in need, and treeating everyone with kindness and respect. One of my proudest achievements was becoming President of the Student Government Association. This provided me with the incredible opportunity to serve as the student speaker at my community college's graduation ceremony. I am thrilled to attend UAB this fall and take advantage of all of the incredible opportunities.

Honors and awards

  • All-Alabama Academic Team

Chosen by my community college, I was one of two students awarded this scholarship. It is through Phi Theta Kappa and is awarded based on academic excellence, leadership, and service.

  • President's List

This honor was awarded to me by my community college each semester I was there. To qualify, students had to maintain a semester GPA of 4.0 and complete at least 12 credit hours.

  • Nominated for the President's Cup

This is the most prestigious award at ESCC. The nominations are based on GPA, collegiate activities, and citizenship.

Goals and interests

Career goal

Growing up, I was often told how amazing I was with children and that I should choose a vocation that would allow me to work with them. When considering my job options, I wanted something that would allow me to pursue my interest in science while also allowing me to work with children. That's when I decided to go into pediatrics. After receiving my Bachelor of Science in Biology, I intend to attend medical school and then complete my residency at UAB.

Outside the classroom

Being involved on campus has always been something I have appreciated. During my time at my community college, I was involved in the majority of the clubs and groups. Some of the clubs I was apart of include SGA, Circle K, Ambassadors, Baptist Campus Ministies, Diamond Dolls, and more. I also enjoy volunteering and project management. Outside of school, I work with the children's and youth ministries at my church. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, baking, listening to music, and creating various sorts of art.

Volunteering

  • I was the Circle K Club Vice President at ESCC this past academic year. In this position, I assisted in the direction of numerous volunteer projects. Circle K provided me with opportunities to build and strengthen my leadership, fellowship, and service abilities, from directing a donation drive at our city's 5k to assisting at a campus-wide clean up day. Circle K also sponsored the Alabama Leadership Academy as well as their annual District Convention. Both of these events provided me with the opportunity to network with students from different universities who were in attendance.
