The Holos Project: Published Points of View

    Jan 2023 – Dec 2023

  • Listener on mental health hotline. Attended a 65-hour 10-week training to email, text, and listen on a mental health hotline. I gained essential empathic skills. We often practice applying them to other situations outside of Teenline. I am extensively trained to provide support for others & skilled in crisis intervention. I’ve spent countless nights on the phone past closing hours to bring suicidal teens to safety, whether that’s been through developing a safety plan, bringing the police to their homes, bringing them to the hospital, getting them to step away from lethal means, and ultimately staying with them until they no longer feel suicidal. I give them the resources to cope when suicidal feelings may arise in the future. I’ve stayed up to call child protective services to people’s homes, directed youth to planned parenthood when seeking abortions, I’ve made sexual assault/rape files to the police, and throughout all of this, I keep the caller feeling calm and supported.
