About
I completed by double bachelor’s degree in business management and electrical engineering. After completing school, I worked in the field as an electrical engineer at Raytheon for 2 years. My husband was offered a position in San Antonio Texas, so we moved to San Antonio for 5 years. While in San Antonio, I worked at a company called Southwest Research. Wanting to get into medical devices, I switched companies and started to work for a company called KCI. They made wound vacs that put negative pressure on a wound to promote healing. I felt as though I had found my true calling. I worked there as a quality engineer, getting certified in ISO 13485, ISO 14971, and 60601. I would present to the VP and help come up with solutions to problems as they came up. I loved what I did and truly found my passion. Then my husband was offered a position in Tucson, brining us close to family. I took some time off work to raise my small children and started my own company, Mermazing Design. For the last few years, I have been a web designer, making use of my programming skills in my electrical engineering degree. Finally in fall of 2022, I wanted to grow my passion for helping people and wanted to learn more about medical devices, so I went back to school to get my masters in biomedical engineering.
