About

I was raised by a single mother for most of my life, and she is who I draw most of my inspiration from. She had me at a time when it was still unacceptable for single mothers to simply exist, put herself through college to support me and herself, and bought out first home almost entirely on her own. Since I learned about her hardship, I want to make the world a better, easier place for people like us. I'm a child of mixed race, black and white, and that on its own is a hardship in the modern climate. I'm bisexual, and a woman. The system would love nothing more than for me to fail. I'm enrolled in college to be someone who can make a difference; I want to be a lawyer. I want to be a civil litigator, before acquiring my JD and entering the state department to work in foreign affairs and immigration. I want to give families like mine a chance at the life I live now, one of education and opportunities. I want to succeed to show other people like me that they can do it. I would love to receive this scholarship to carry on my goals, and to propel me forward, as finances have always been a daunting concept to both my mom and me. I want to be able to help, guide, and eventually change the world. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
