About

Hello! My name is Alicia and I am in my final semester of my undergraduate studies at the University of Rhode Island. As you may have noticed from my "headshot," one of my favorite hobbies is art! This photo is actually a charcoal portrait I made of myself during a drawing class at CCRI in 2022.
I am currently working full time as a TA at a local high school, while finishing up my final semester as a full-time student. I am enrolled in five courses at URI and one course at RWU. Within the past three years, I have accumulated over 120 credit hours between CCRI, URI, and RWU. After this semester, I will have a total of 130 completed credit hours for my undergraduate degree from URI.
I am a mom of three young athletes! I love watching my boys play youth sports: Football, basketball, & little league. I enjoy volunteering for their schools, sports organizations, and anything that gets me involved in our wonderful community!

Goals and interests

Career goal

I currently work as a TA at the high school I graduated at (in 2009). I work in the resource department and help students with i.e.p.s. I wasn't sure of my intended job path; I kept changing it but over time, I realized that through all the changes, one thing remained the same: Working in a school, working with students, particularly high school students. High school was a blast for me and I found it easy, so I didn't receive much help or guidance during high school. I really wish that I had, because I might not have made some of the choices that I did. More importantly, maybe I wouldn't have waited ten years to go to college.
Whether I am an academic teacher, a guidance counselor, or I work in administration, all I know is that I belong in a high school and it is my job to lead the next generation to success.

Graduate school interests

I knew the day that I started my undergraduate studies at CCRI, three years ago, that my goals didn't end here. That I would, without a doubt, continue to grad school and get a masters degree at the very least. I will be graduating in the middle of the school year, but I am hoping to start my graduate studies in the Spring 2024 semester. Currently, my plan is to get a masters in education, however, I would love to find a program that allows me to create a custom degree, in educational psychology, or psychological education.

Outside the classroom

I have an extensive list of hobbies, as I am interested and intrigued by everything! I love art: Drawing, painting, creating, photos; anything crafty, DIY, or hand-made makes me feel purposeful.
I also love watching my three sons play youth sports and cheering them and their team on! I love to learn and I love to teach kids, aduls, and people in general, anything they are willing to learn!
