About

Hello! My name is Alondra Ostolaza, and my diligent father and inspiring engineer mother raised me. My mother works as an industrial engineer, and I have always watched her devote herself to her work. Even though she claims to be on vacation, people still contact, text, and even email her to inform her of events that can be occasionally unimportant. She has effectively dedicated her all, around the clock, to her work. Well, my dad works a variety of jobs. He works both full-time and part-time. You might wonder why I discuss my parents when this is intended to be a synopsis of who I am. The fact is that I am the product of my parents. I share their work ethic, honesty, adaptability, integrity, and sense of duty. I'm majoring in Neuroscience & Psychological Sciences, B.S. I have no idea what my responsibilities will be. All I know is that I'm eager to see what lies ahead and to take on the new challenges that have presented themselves. Thanks to my parents' tireless efforts, I'm studying at RPI. I still have a lot to learn, but because of the opportunity honorsociety.org provided for me, I at least know I'm not starting alone.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I intend to figure out which of these jobs—researcher, neuropsychologist, forensic psychologist, CBT technician, or a
neuroscience data analyst—is the right one for me.

Graduate school interests

To earn a Ph.D. is my lifelong goal.

Outside the classroom

Sports have always been my main pastime. I enjoy playing sports for fun, including basketball, soccer, bowling, and volleyball, which I did competitively. I enjoy laughing a lot while I'm around my buddies. There is no better sensation for me than working out at the gym. I enjoy binge-viewing TV shows, movies, visiting cinemas, browsing YouTube, etc. Together with my buddies, I also enjoy playing video games. Finally, I enjoy listening to music. I view music as art, and I enjoy listening to various genres. And lastly, I enjoy writing, which is one of my hidden interests.

Volunteering

  • I belonged to a religious group called Congregación Mariana. It mostly discussed obstacles in life and how to overcome them. There was a monthly expedition whose main objective was to help individuals in need. We attended those events, and it always warmed my heart to meet new people.

  • Hogar Ruth serves as a haven for abused women. The owner wouldn't let me serve them because I was only in eighth grade, so I cleaned and organized a little bit for the mistreated women instead.
