About

My name is Alyssa Doughty. I am a psychology major at University of Colorado, Denver. I am an undergraduate, but officially chipping away at mostly major specific courses. I have taken an interest in honors society in order to receive access to tools and resources that could connect me with other academics and mentors. I am interested in learning about undergraduate research, internships and fellowships, and exploring what I would possibly like study in grad school. I am a first generation college student in my family, so I am looking to get in contact with some mentors that can share their experience and advice.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I am interested in a career path either involving clinical psychology, counseling, and possibly working within special education.

Graduate school interests

I would like to attend a grad school that would include clinical research and working hands on with patients in some capacity. I do not know the full scope of how grad programs compare and what options are available for psychology majors.

Outside the classroom

With my free time I enjoy spending quality time with my friends, getting outside with my dog, reading and attending live performances such as concerts and festivals.

Volunteering

  • I have volunteered with Special Needs students in high school. I worked with them on social skills, classroom behavior and organized sports participation. I would love to find a program that I can volunteer for currently. Working with neurodivergent students and people is so empowering and genuinely makes you smile on any given day.
