About

My name is Alyssa Jensen. I am currently a student at Bradley University’s School of Nursing in the Family Nurse Practitioner program (FNP). I have strived to become a nurse practitioner all of my life. The most significant achievement of mine was when I was accepted into the FNP program in the year 2021. I also graduated with my Associate’s Degree in Nursing and began my first nursing in 2021. I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing in the spring of 2022 and started the FNP program in the fall of 2022. Throughout my college career, I have shown excellence repeatedly through my relentless effort to succeed academically and professionally. Education has always been my highest priority, so I can use my knowledge to help others and make a difference in the community.
For almost two years, I worked in the Clinical Decision Unit. I learned how to be an excellent nurse through my experience working there. I have learned critical thinking skills, how to care for critical patients, and how to identify signs and symptoms that correlate to a diagnosis. Last year, I moved to New Jersey and started a new job in the Cardiopulmonary Stepdown Unit. Changing units has challenged me in nursing and has broadened my nursing abilities. However, I look forward to adjusting to the nurse practitioner role. I am thrilled to start my first clinical as a nurse practitioner this fall. I am excited to care for people in the community, provide holistic healthcare, eliminate social determinants of health, and develop rapport with patients. I am passionate about helping others and strive to make a difference in my community.
When I graduate from the FNP program, a professional goal of mine is to work in primary care. I want to work at a clinic for a few years to learn from other healthcare providers and eventually start my practice. I dream of owning a primary care clinic and adding a medical spa with aesthetics and intravenous therapies. I strive to assess my patients holistically, providing care emotionally, physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually. People must achieve all for wellness. Furthermore, I prioritize respecting all cultures and encourage diversity. My achievements to this date help me achieve these goals because my classes and experiences have taught me how to holistically assess and care for patients and respect all cultures and beliefs. I look forward to becoming the best nurse practitioner I can be so people can trust me to care for themselves and their loved ones.
