Amanda Tomasini

I dream of being a midwife, founding a birthing center and women's health clinic, and providing access to quality healthcare for low-income women.

I am attending school full-time at Heartland Community College, working toward my Associates in Nursing Prep. I will be transferring in the Fall of 2021 to Milwaukee School of Engineering's nursing program.

In addition, I am working full-time at a non-profit agency, dedicated to eradicating poverty in the United States. I am the director for an Americorps Seniors program call Foster Grandparents, that serves 7 central Illinois counties. It helps low-income elderly adults, pairing them with disadvantaged youth. The program simultaneously provides youth with a mentor to help them succeed in school, while also providing socialization and enrichment opportunities for elderly adults.

Outside of school and work, I am actively involved in the local community. I organize a networking and discussion group for local Pagans called Pagans in Touch. I was the coordinator for Central IL Pagan Pride Day for 5 years, stepping down after the 2019 event to focus on returning to school to switch careers. I enjoy dancing, camping, hiking, and crafting of all kinds.
