About

I am a transfer student as of Spring 2016. Each semester I have taken the required courses and delivered essays to the best of my ability. I am an English Education major with a Biology minor. I am very goal orientated--planning my semesters in hopes of completing all of my set goals and graduating by 2020. I have had the pleasure of participating in Greta Gaard's course: Advanced Composition. I received a B for five essays, and a final critical reflection. I will be taking English Composition Theory, Literature for Adolescents, and Techniques of Middle/Secondary Education over the next few semesters. After successfully enrolling for Spring 2017, I will dedicate 12-16 credits each semester towards becoming an educator. In the future I foresee a life of worthwhile challenges that will lead to growth, laughter, contentment, and adventure for my students and myself. I hope to continue to branch my healthcare background with my English education by continuing to work with my clients in in-home care and a balance between both careers for years to come. I do expect to come across many late nights grading papers and creating effective lesson plans. I know this will not be an easy career, but it will be a fulfilling one. There may be moments where specific challenges may arise and I will face these challenges by relying on resources that are available within the school system. I also know that given the statistics currently there are more fractured family units, so it is likely that I will come across children who are struggling with home environments. This could bring out sadness or acting out behaviors during their school day. It will be important to determine if a students have learning difficulties, or social situations. These will all play a part in a child’s ability to focus and learn in school. I aim to be able to assist in any way I can that will benefit each and every student who seeks my help. I can picture myself in the classroom and feel excitement and some trepidation. I would be building a special trust and guidance that I feel honored to be a part of and provide to the best of my abilities. Meeting parents and seeing how each child’s personality has grown over our time together will be wonderful to share and discuss. I appreciate your consideration and time.
