Goals and interests

Career goal

My intended job path is to become a school social worker, where I can support students' academic, social, and emotional well-being within the educational system. I am passionate about helping youth navigate challenges related to mental health, peer relationships, family dynamics, and academic pressures. I aim to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, families, and community partners to create safe, inclusive school environments and provide early intervention and ongoing support for students in need. My goal is to advocate for equitable access to resources, promote resilience, and empower students to succeed both in and out of the classroom.

Outside the classroom

Outside of my professional and academic roles, I enjoy activities that foster creativity, connection, and personal growth. I find joy in reading and writing, particularly around topics related to youth development and emotional well-being. As a Kids Ministry Director, I’m passionate about creating meaningful experiences for children through crafts, storytelling, and community-building. I also enjoy cooking new recipes, practicing mindfulness through music and journaling, and spending time outdoors, whether it's a quiet walk or a day at the park. These hobbies not only help me recharge but also deepen my empathy and creativity in my work with youth.

Experience

  • mentor

As a mentor with the Regional Office of Education (ROE) 35 at Oglesby Washington Junior High, I provide consistent academic, emotional, and behavioral support to students navigating personal and school-related challenges. I work one-on-one and in small groups to help students set and achieve SMART goals, improve their emotional regulation, and build healthy peer relationships. My role includes monitoring academic progress, facilitating check-ins, supporting attendance and motivation, and collaborating with school staff to create individualized plans. I also integrate social-emotional learning and trauma-informed practices to promote resilience and student success.
