Goals and interests
- Career goal
My passion lies in supporting individuals and communities healing from trauma. To achieve this goal, I'm currently pursuing acceptance into a Master of Social Work (MSW) program, following my foundation in Behavioral Sciences (Minor) and General Studies (B.S.).
My envisioned career path:
Short-Term (2-3 years):
Complete my MSW program with a focus on clinical social work.
Secure a supervised clinical internship in a mental health setting serving individuals with trauma histories.Mid-Term (3-5 years):
Obtain licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
Gain experience providing trauma-informed therapy in a clinical setting (e.g., hospital, community mental health center, private practice).Long-Term (5+ years):
Develop expertise in a specific area of trauma-informed treatment (e.g., PTSD, childhood trauma).
Potentially pursue additional certifications or specialize in a specific trauma population.- Graduate school interests
My academic focus leans heavily towards the mental health field, with a specific interest in trauma-informed social work. My background in Behavioral Sciences (Minor) and General Studies (B.S.) has solidified my desire to pursue a Master of Social Work (MSW) program. Within the MSW program, I'm particularly interested in coursework and experiences that will equip me to become a trauma-informed therapist.
This includes:
Clinical practice: Developing strong therapeutic skills with a focus on trauma-informed interventions.
Trauma studies: Gaining a deeper understanding of the impact of trauma on individuals and communities.
Social work policy: Learning how social policy can impact access to mental health services and support trauma-informed approaches.Overall, I'm seeking an MSW program that fosters a balance between clinical skills development and a strong foundation in trauma-informed social work principles.
