Goals and interests

Career goal

My intended job path is to progress into senior leadership roles in facility and asset management, specializing in the management of large, complex, and sustainability-focused infrastructure portfolios such as public parks, transportation facilities, healthcare, and mixed-use developments.
In the short term, I aim to continue working in advanced operational and strategic FM roles where I can apply my academic training and international certifications to improve asset performance, reliability, sustainability, and value for money. I plan to focus on roles that integrate facility management, asset management, and performance management, including positions such as Senior Facility Manager, Asset Manager, or FM Strategy and Performance Manager.
In the medium term, I intend to move into regional or program-level leadership roles, such as Head of Facility Management, Director of Asset Management, or FM Program Manager, where I can oversee multiple sites and large budgets, develop FM policies, and drive long-term improvement initiatives aligned with international standards such as ISO 41001 and ISO 55001.
In the long term, my goal is to become a recognized industry leader and advisor who contributes to national and international infrastructure programs, public-sector FM strategies, and sustainability initiatives. I aim to influence how organizations design, operate, and maintain their facilities by promoting data-driven decision making, lifecycle thinking, and sustainable practices.
Completing my Master of Science in Facility Management is a critical step in this path, as it will provide the advanced knowledge and academic credibility needed to support leadership roles, policy development, and high-level decision making in the facility and asset management profession.

Graduate school interests

My graduate school interests are focused on developing advanced expertise in strategic facility management, asset lifecycle management, sustainability, and performance-driven operations. Through the Master of Science in Facility Management program at the University of Texas at San Antonio, I am particularly interested in how facilities and infrastructure can be planned, operated, and optimized to deliver long-term value, resilience, and environmental responsibility.
I am especially drawn to subjects such as strategic facility planning, risk management, financial and lifecycle analysis, performance measurement, and sustainability integration, as these areas directly influence how large and complex facility portfolios perform over time. These interests align strongly with my professional work in managing public assets, utilities, landscapes, and large-scale infrastructure programs, where decisions must balance cost, risk, service quality, and sustainability.
Another key interest of mine is the use of data and digital systems—such as CAFM, CMMS, BIM, and asset information systems—to support evidence-based decision making. I am keen to explore how analytics, predictive maintenance, and performance dashboards can improve asset reliability, reduce lifecycle costs, and support transparent governance.
Beyond technical knowledge, I am also interested in the leadership, governance, and policy dimensions of facility management. I see graduate education as a platform to develop the skills needed to guide organizations toward best-practice standards such as ISO 41001 and ISO 55001, and to contribute to the advancement of the profession globally.
Overall, my graduate studies are a critical step toward becoming a strategic, sustainability-focused leader in facility and asset management, capable of shaping how cities and organizations manage their built environments for the long term.

Outside the classroom

In my free time, I enjoy activities that support both my personal well-being and professional growth. I have a strong interest in reading and continuous learning, particularly in topics related to sustainability, leadership, smart cities, and emerging technologies in facility and asset management. I also enjoy following developments in the built environment and exploring how innovation can improve the way facilities and infrastructure are designed, operated, and maintained.
I actively engage in professional communities and knowledge sharing, including participating in industry forums, webinars, and discussions related to facility and asset management. This allows me to stay connected to global best practices while also contributing insights from my own experience.
Outside of my professional interests, I value physical activity and wellness, which help me maintain focus, energy, and balance. I also enjoy traveling and exploring new cultures, as it broadens my perspective and enhances my ability to work effectively in diverse, international environments.
These hobbies support my overall goal of being a well-rounded, reflective, and forward-thinking professional, committed to lifelong learning and meaningful impact.
