Ana Clara Fernandez Portela
intern at Last summer, I worked at Consorcio Energetico Punta Cana Macao (CEPM), a private enterprise in the Dominican Republic that generates, transmits, distributes and commercializes energy in Punta Cana-Bavaro and Bayahibe. I interned in the Finance Department, where I performed multiple tasks from evaluating taxes to speaking on the phone with employees about their missing receipts. After working most previous summers at my family retail businesses, I am glad that I expanded my business horizons and learned about many different methods of financial accounting and assessment.

About
My name is Ana Clara Fernandez and I am a freshman at the Georgetown University McDonough School of Business. I grew up in the Dominican Republic, a small Caribbean island that is full of surprises. I am currently in Washington D.C., pursuing my academic endeavors. I am a passionate, hard working, organized and outgoing young adult. I always put the best of my abilities into anything I perform, and I love to give back to my community. I am currently undeclared, but I am hoping to major in International Political Economy and Business. I am fluent in Spanish, English and French, and I wish to continue to expand my language studies in the future. Goals and interests
- Career goal
My intended job path is twofold: I want to gain the skills I need to help my family’s business grow, but also to develop businesses and social entrepreneurship ventures of my own in the future. I am planning to major in International Political Economy and Business, where I'd like to work in the retail business to gain experience and a sense of community. In addition, my long term goals are to enter the political world in the Dominican Republic and make a bigger impact in the community that saw me grow and that I owe so much too.
- Outside the classroom
I love to read, exercise and develop social ventures on my own. I am on my way to developing an entrepreneurial idea that I think will be of great success.
