About

My name is Anabella, and I am a senior at Smithburg High School, in Washington County, Maryland. I have been taking early college classes since my junior year and homeschooled the last three years of my high school career. This allowed me the time to travel and appreciate many different cultures from places like Iceland, Brazil, Italy, and Morrocco. However, I am so grateful to have attended Smithburg for my senior year, to be able to form friendships with other students in my community. I believe that my unique education experience has allowed me to learn valuable lessons about life and enabled me to connect with many different types of people.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I plan to be a dentist; however, I am not decided on what kind of dentistry I want to pursue. I have a particular interest in general dentistry, and oral and maxillofacial dentistry. The latter would require me to pursue a 4-6 year surgical residency after dental school, and it is recommended to attain a dual degree in medicine and dentistry to perfect and refine one's oral surgical skills.

Graduate school interests

I plan to attend dental school after earning my undergraduate degree, and pursuing higher education in the field of dentistry. However, I plan on applying to both medical and dental school out of college, since my current interest would require a dual degree to have the greatest level of competency in my intended field of work.

Outside the classroom

My favorite hobby of all includes challenging myself to learn new skills, and I am currently working on improving my abilities in tennis and roller skating. I thoroughly enjoy fitness, as I am currently a part of the tennis, and track and field teams at my high school. A recent hobby I have picked up includes interviewing and journaling about people's perspectives on human topics including love, youth, and other social topics. Lastly, I love to read classical literature and crochet. I have even made some of my own clothing!
