About

My name is Anastasia Holten and am I pleased to be a part of honor society. I am currently an online student at Central Texas College since December of 2020, working towards an associates degree in Logistics and Global supply chain management. I've been living abroad in South Korea since October of 2018, and plan to return back to Texas in 2023 after I earn my associates degree. The next step in my academic plan would be to transfer my credits to a four year university in Texas and continue my education in the Supply Chain management field.
I am half Korean, so learning more about my Korean heritage is important to me. Though, the deciding factor that drove me to Korea initially was to become a kidney donor for my mother, who suffered from kidney failure for over eight years. I am happy to report that the kidney transplant went well; my mother and I are healthier than ever before! After the surgery, I decided to stick around and began volunteering, given that I had a lot of free time. I soon enrolled at Yonsei University Korean Language Institute and studied the Korean language for one year and a half. I wanted to begin working, and being that I enjoyed volunteering as an English tutor so much, I decided to leave Yonsei and get a job as an English teacher. My decision to return to the classroom happened in 2020. The reason being, I have a genuine interest in the mechanics of supply and demand. I also would eventually like to impact the changes of materials used for packaging to a sustainable material. I dream of making an eco friendly shift in the supply chain and in logistics.
Currently, most of my time is spent working and studying. I dedicate a lot of my time towards learning; whether it be language, philosophy, logistics. I have a thirst for knowledge and plan to really thrive academically. I did choose to begin my academic career later in life, as I am soon to be 30, but I like to see it as I know exactly what I want from this journey, and am not afraid to put in the time and work to reach my goals.

Goals and interests

Career goal

After successfully earning a BBA in supply chain management, I plan on living abroad with a full time career as a supply chain manager. I also dream of finding alternative sustainable materials for packaging, as well as finding eco friendly methods of shipping cargo across the world.

Outside the classroom

I consciously try to be healthy, so on my free time I enjoy hiking with friends as well as lifting in the gym. I also enjoy reading books and having deep discussions with my friends. A true nature lover! I dabble with hula hooping and dancing.

Volunteering

  • When time permits, I like to volunteer at soup kitchens, as well as tutoring English underprivileged children. I discovered these volunteer groups on Meetup App when I first arrived to Seoul in 2018. Now, with work and school I don't get to volunteer as much as I would like, but once every five months I make it out to contribute.
