About

I am currently double majoring in Education & Youth Studies and Interdisciplinary in Disability Studies. I hope to be an Elementary school teacher for general education or special education. I plan to get a masters in Special Education and PhD in Disability Studies once I graduate from Beloit College. I have always wanted to leave a positive impact of children, especially those with disabilities as I have a disability myself. I am extremely passionate about creating equal access to education for all students, no matter their ability. Which is why I have started to create A Place For Us, a nonprofit organization that aims to connect and empower students with disabilities to pursue higher education through peer mentoring that spans high school through college.

Career goal

I am planning on student-teaching in the fall to get my certification in elementary education. Once I graduate from Beloit College, I plan to do an intensive one year masters program to get certified in special education so that I can become an elementary school teacher in general or special education. While I work as a teacher I plan to get my PhD in Disability Studies so that I can eventually become a professor of Disability Studies.

Graduate school interests

University of Illinois Chicago for Disability Studies

Outside the classroom

I have been swimming for the last fifteen years and was one of the captains on the Beloit College Swim and Dive team this past season. I also have been playing sled hockey for the last ten years. I am extremely passionate about disability rights and became the president of the Beloit Cross-Disability Coalition this past year.
