About
I am deeply committed to empowering individuals and families affected by addiction. With a background in education and a passion for mental health, I am currently completing my practicum in drug and alcohol counseling, building on my Master of Education and my role as a Registered Alcohol and Drug Technician (RADT). For nearly four years, I have also run a successful tutoring business, fostering growth and resilience in my students. My journey has reinforced my belief that healing extends beyond the individual—it requires strengthening families, reshaping narratives, and fostering hope. I am driven to make a lasting impact in addiction recovery by integrating compassionate care, evidence-based practices, and a holistic understanding of mental health.

Goals and interests
- Career goal
I aspire to become a licensed addiction counselor specializing in the intersection of substance use, mental health, and family dynamics. My goal is to provide compassionate, evidence-based care that not only supports individuals in recovery but also empowers families to heal and grow together. I am particularly passionate about working with adolescents and young adults, helping them navigate the challenges of addiction and mental health with understanding and resilience. Long-term, I hope to contribute to the field through advocacy, education, and innovative treatment approaches that address the root causes of addiction and promote lasting recovery.
- Graduate school interests
I am passionate about advancing my expertise in addiction counseling and mental health, with a particular focus on how substance use affects individuals and families. My graduate studies have deepened my understanding of evidence-based treatment approaches, family dynamics in recovery, and the critical role of community support in healing. I am especially interested in exploring trauma-informed care, co-occurring disorders, and adolescent substance use treatment. As I continue my education, I aim to integrate research, clinical practice, and advocacy to create meaningful change in the field of addiction recovery.
- Outside the classroom
Outside of my professional and academic pursuits, I enjoy spending time with my family, exploring nature, and caring for my pets, Ricky my turtle and Alfalfa my dog. I have a passion for lifelong learning and love reading about psychology, addiction recovery, and personal growth. Running my small tutoring business has also fostered my love for mentorship and education. When I have free time, I enjoy creative activities, relaxing with a good book, and finding new ways to stay active and engaged with my community.
Volunteering
-
As a volunteer at Transformations Care, I contribute to the support and recovery of individuals struggling with substance use and mental health challenges. My role involves assisting with client engagement, providing encouragement, and reinforcing the principles of addiction recovery. I help facilitate a supportive environment by offering guidance, active listening, and practical resources for those in treatment. This experience has deepened my understanding of real-world addiction recovery, enhancing my skills in client interaction, trauma-informed care, and relapse prevention strategies. Volunteering at Transformations Care has reinforced my passion for helping individuals and families heal, aligning with my long-term goal of becoming a licensed addiction counselor.
