About
I am currently set to be an incoming freshman into the class of 2024 at Emory University. I was accepted into their College of Arts and Sciences and I plan to major in Biostatistics in a joint BS/MSPH degree on the premed track; I plan to minor in creative writing. I grew up in Bavaria, Germany and I lived there for 14 years before my family and I moved to Virginia under military orders. German is my first language and I speak both English and German. I also know a healthy amount of Spanish because my mother is Panamanian, she immigrated to the United States and became a naturalized citizen in the summer of 2019. Growing up in Germany, I was fascinated with the science of nature and the science of life itself. I have always loved science but it was when my father got sick that I found my passion in medicine. Four years ago my dad was diagnosed with end stage renal kidney failure and was put on peritoneal dialysis. I began to set up his dialysis machine and aid in his at home injections of insulin, my father is also diabetic. I found myself taking every science course I could and I joined the National Science Honor Society at my school as well. Since then my father received a kidney in January of 2020, he and I have worked together before, during, and after his procedure and I have learned so much from him. Medicine and science is forever ingrained in my life and I am ecstatic to begin my studies. My dream would be to earn the MacArthur Fellowship and utilize it to create a dialysis clinic in my father’s name.

Goals and interests
- Career goal
I will be studying to become a nephrologist and a surgeon. I plan on working in hospitals and clinics within the United States that exist to serve the patients and be catalysts for healing and good health.
- Graduate school interests
After I have received my bachelor’s and joint master’s degree in science and public health, I plan to attend an Ivy League medical school and earn my MD.
- Outside the classroom
I love to sing and dance. During my time in high school I was involved in: Treble Choir, the unisex beginner choir, Chamber Ensemble, the highest unisex choir, IgKnight, the student led a capella group, Knightingales, the unisex competitive show choir and Knight Scene, the mixed competitive show choir. In my senior year alone I was in a total of 5 choirs simultaneously. I also play the piano and enjoy painting in my free time. I am very very passionate about the arts. Another hobby I indulge in is writing short stories and poems, I love to write in my spare time and I could do it for hours on end if I had the time.
