About
My current career path is to achieve a bachelor’s degree in education. I graduated from college in 1988 with a degree in Early Childhood Education. I married soon after graduating and became a stay-at-home mother to my son & daughter (twins) who are now (22) and my oldest son who is now (41). My husband and I owned a biotech company in Kirkland. He has a PhD/MD in Medicinal Chemistry and was the CSO (Chief Scientific Officer). I will honestly admit that my life was very charming until my divorce after (25) years of marriage. Nice homes, fancy vacations, etc. That all changed when I filed for divorce. I had him arrested for Domestic Violence and was issued a restraining order. The horrific divorce went on for close to (5) years and ended in disaster. Our assets were depleted, and I had to apply for Social Security Disability Insurance due to a TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) I sustained in the assault. We returned to court two more times due to him stalking me and violating my restraining order.
At the age of (55) I am starting my financial life over. I have an associate degree from 1988 but no real work experience. I became incredibly involved with education when my twins entered kindergarten and I continue to be involved in their education even now that they are young adults. I love the idea of helping to mold young minds that are excited to learn. Volunteering to various degrees in the school system has always been extremely rewarding to me.

I have overcome numerous adversities in my life, and I would love to have the chance to repay my community through education.
I was sexually assaulted at age (13) and became pregnant and from the time my son was born I have wanted to give him a better life than what I had. I was in and out of foster care my entire childhood due to my mother’s mental illnesses. I graduated High School with my class and immediately started college. I understood education was my key to a better life. I graduated in 1988 with an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education and married my ex-husband soon afterwards. He is a PhD scientist so when I became pregnant with our twins, we decided that I would be a stay-at-home mother. This arrangement worked very well for close to (15) years but then he decided that he would oversee all finances and started abusing me financially and emotionally. I filed for divorce once the physical abuse started, and my young children were witnessing the abuse. During the divorce he was able to hide all our assets. I did get Alimony and Child support for (3) years but once that ended my only income is my Social Security Disability of just over $1000 a month. I know that is not a living wage so going back to school will help me advance in my new career.- Graduate school interests

Volunteering

Volunteer When I moved to Ocean Shores, I decided to volunteer at our local animal shelter. I quickly realized a significant need within our community: a lack of awareness about responsible pet ownership. Many pets were being abandoned due to issues that could have been prevented with proper education. I took the lead by organizing a series of educational workshops at our local school. These workshops covered topics like pet care, adoption, and the importance of spaying and neutering. I invited experts from the shelter to speak and even arranged for some furry friends to attend, which made the sessions more engaging. The impact was profound. Students and their families learned about the responsibilities of pet ownership and the benefits of adopting from shelters. As a result, the number of abandoned pets in our community decreased, and the shelter saw an increase in successful adoptions. My initiative not only improved the lives of countless animals but also brought our community closer together, fostering a sense of compassion and responsibility for our four-legged friends.
