About
I received a Bachelors of Science in Conservation and Resource Studies at UC Berkeley 2011, concentrating in Political Ecology and Development Studies. Since then, I have worked as an urban garden educator in k-12 schools, as a refugee and beginning farmer program coordinator, environmental science and environmental justice educator and in ecological landscaping. In 2022, I started a small business designing, installing and maintaining edible, habitat and pollinator gardens.
Seeing the relationship between the environment and emotional/mental health and well-being, I am pursuing a Joint Masters in Social Work degree at North Carolina A&T State University and the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, where I’m exploring the intersections of environmental justice and activism, climate psychology, emotional resilience, and ecotherapy. I
Upon graduation, I hope to combine my interests by providing specialized mental health support and educational offerings, advocating for communities impacted by environmental racism, and working as a garden consultant.
In addition to being a member of Golden Key, I am a member of SENG (Supporting the Emotional Needs of the Gifted), the American Psychological Association, The Climate Psychology Alliance of North America, The National Gardening Association, and the Association for Ecotherapy and Nature Based Therapy.
