About
I, Angelus Basil, have received various accomplishments thus far in my academic career. These achievements, awards, and clubs allow me to build experience through companionship and real-world practice as I venture on my journey into Healthcare. My goal in life is to help those who are in need and, my pursuit in Biomedical Sciences at The University of West Florida allows me to get closer to that target. My tenure in Allied Health gave me a first-hand look into the medical field through hours of internship and participation in blood donations and sales. As both a worker and student, I learned the process of patient care and the inner workings of a clinic. This experience further enhanced my aspirations and abilities whilst striving for a career in health services. My academic awards are more than just plaques and medals; they are an eternal reminder for me to keep pushing the needle into excellence. Through dual enrollment, I was able to get an early look at college studies and now that I am of age, I am proficient in balancing school work with moderation while maintaining overachieving results. I spent nearly a decade playing sports; learning how to work together as a team, to reach a common goal. This active lifestyle has taught me discipline and rigor in all activities I wish to participate in. I believe that my recent admission into the Honor Society is a recognition of my diligence, while simultaneously being a call to act upon my efforts and take advantage of the blessings I've been given to make a better future for myself and others. I know that my past achievements and background have shaped me into the ever evolving student that I am today, and will assist in my quest to become a Health Professional in the field of Medicine.

Goals and interests
- Career goal
My goal is to pursue a career in healthcare as a doctor and future health professional dedicated to assisting others in need.
- Outside the classroom
I enjoy playing basketball and soccer as well as studying the professional landscapes of the sports. I find comic books both entertaining and the best forms of storytelling for growth & development. Music has always been an interest and outlet for me to express my emotions in a healthy, positive way. My most potent interest is that of scripture. I would not delegate this to a hobby but, it does intrigue me as I read my Bible everyday to get in tuned and grow closer to The Lord, Jesus Christ.
Volunteering
-
I have volunteered as a worker for multiple service events for my community. Examples include the organization committee with Rock Spring Elementary School and their annual Fall Festival on September 8th 2023. I participated as a volunteer for running the stands and games the children would play. Similarly, I was involved in the Ola Elementary School Fall Festival on November 10th 2023. I filled the same role as an organizer for the games. In my pursuit of healthcare goals, I interned at the Versalo Weight Loss Clinic in Stockbridge, Georgia. These dates of service range from December 3rd 2023 to May 24th 2024 and I took part in the clinic for upwards of 40 hours. My position included registering the customers and their purchases. I shadowed the doctors and nurses and attained a degree of knowledge of the medical field which further ignited my inspiration to venture in healthcare. The Red Cross Blood Donation program offered opportunities for students to obtain volunteer credits. I served with my fellow Allied Health students in Ola High School in aiding the process of the blood donations and helped the donors. The notable date I engaged in this activity was December 1st 2023. This taught me what a career in healthcare may look like and the responsibility every member of the team has in caring for a patient. Other examples of servitude include my September 2019 through March 2020 ventures in assisting Special Education students in Physical Education. Coach Mark French of Ola Middle School arranged this system and it provided me with the skills to communicate properly and effectively and taught me patience as well as service beyond obligation. All of my acts of community service have enabled an active side of me that yearns to help others as well as serve the people around me.
