About
My name is Anh Nguyen, an Analytical Chemistry Ph.D student at the University of Utah. As a single mom with English as a second language and a first-generation college student, being admitted to the Chemistry graduate program at the University of Utah is one of the best rewards. I have my Bachelor's in Chemistry from the University of Utah. I am currently a graduate research assistant in Prof. Jennifer Shumaker-Parry. We are focusing on studying nanostructures' properties and behaviors with different spectroscopic as well as their application in sensing and detection. My project specifically studies the Aluminum nanocrescents' chiroptical as well as the potential applications in sensing and detection.

My dream career is working on research and development for the USA military or in the area of bioanalytical analysis in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Graduate school interests
My graduate research focus on plasmonic resonance nanostructures' behavior and properties by characterizing them with spectroscopies. It opens up potential to apply affordable cost nanostructures in sensing and detection.
- Outside the classroom
I love to listen to music. I am obsessed with watching Korean drama though I don't really have time at this moment, since I have to fulfilled being mom, graduate research assistant and teaching assistant sometimes.
