About

I am a speech - language pathology major from Monroe, Louisiana. My mother is an elementary school teacher, and my father works on a drilling rig in the southern part of Texas. I chose to study at the University of Louisiana at Monroe because it is close to where my family lives, and almost all of my family members have graduated from this school. I am a three-year alumna member and the former captain of the Hawkline which is my school's dance team. We won the division 1A national championship in hip hop my last year on the team. I am a member of Kappa Delta Sorority and NSSLHA, which is the National Student Speech, Language, and Hearing Association. ULM has a wonderful speech - language pathology program which is another reason I chose this school. I plan to graduate college with my bachelor's degree, and then continue my studies to obtain my masters degree in speech - language pathology. I would like to be a speech language pathologist in a hospital or clinic right out of college, and I would like to be a school SLP whenever my children begin school. I would like to further my education again by obtaining my doctorate degree in audiology to become an audiologist. I would like to own my own practice performing and assisting with ear reconstructions, cochlear implants, and other hearing enhancement practices. Before attending college, I graduated with honors from Sterlington High School. I was involved in the Beta Club, sports medicine, student council, diamond girl for the baseball team, and the varsity dance team. At a young age, I fell in love with the art and sport of dance. I began taking dance at age 4 at the Missy Crain School of Dance and continued studying there for 16 years. I studied ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, contemporary, lyrical, and many other forms of dance. I was a founding member of the Louisiana Delta Ballet, and I was a member of the Missy Crain Performing Company. When I was a freshman in high school, I received a scholarship to dance at the Joffrey Ballet School in New York City for the summer. Dancing has taught me any life lessons that I do not think I would have learned very easily had I not been a dancer. I learned discipline, patience, punctuality, respect, work ethic, strength, posture, and many other wonderful life lessons. I definitely think that I will carry these lesson throughout many aspects of my life even when I get into my career. I am looking forward to what my life has to bring next, and I owe everything to my Lord Jesus Christ for blessing me like He has.
