Anthony Davis

I have struggled with reading my entire school career. I have been to tutors, sylvan and other such training places
beginning with kindergarten but I have continued to struggle. The school counselors and teachers all felt I was
doing well enough making A's and B's but my Mom and I knew there was a problem. I finally had a confirmation of
dyslexia with auditory processing deficiency last year in December of 2015. This diagnosis allowed me the
opportunity to receive the help I need to better comprehend the lessons and information that is being taught to me.
I received my IEP at the end of the 2015-2016 school year, and will be attending classes with the ESE instructor
at the high school. I know that if I had the been given the assistance I needed beginning in elementary school, I
would have a 4.0 or higher. While this is not an excuse for my grades being what they are, I do know that I can
achieve higher with the accommodations that I need to put me on the same level as my peers. With this
knowledge and assistance that will be available during my college career, I know that I will achieve many great accomplishments.
