About

I would describe myself as a fighter for what's right. I am thankful to both of my parents, who were first-generation college students who instilled in me the importance of education. As a lover of music, a creative person, and an individual committed to service, I am committed to changing the world and making it better. I currently am in my first year of college at Mercer University. I attended Lawrence E. Elkins High School, where I graduated with a GPA of 3.97.

I am a hardworking senior with aspirations of sharing my talents to make a difference in the world. My hobbies include Art, Cooking, Music, Shopping, and Traveling. Some noteworthy achievements that have shaped me into the leader I am today include academic excellence for all four years of high school; perfect attendance throughout my 12 years of schooling; recognition as the freshman Marcher of the Week; First Chair for both Symphonic Band and Honors Band; a member of the National Honor Society and the Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society. I continue to be a servant leader in college with active participation in volunteerism and a member of the Honor Society.

During my time in high school, I was very active in the band and several clubs. A highlight of my high school years was being named First Chair of the symphonic band alto saxophone section and the First Chair of the alto saxophone section of the honors band. Despite the pandemic, I contributed over 100 community and service hours.

Traits that speak about me are strong work ethic, innovation, organization, accountability, effective communication, and leadership. I am the eldest of two children in the Snipes Family.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I am currently attending Mercer University to pursue a major in Nursing. Inevitably, I desire to pursue pediatric nursing. I chose this area because I have a natural rapport with kids. When babysitting my brother and his friends, I always found clever techniques for winning them over and getting them to behave. Nursing is my profession of choice because it is a worthwhile and meaningful work. I will admit that I prefer pediatric care versus geriatric care because kids will be more prone and likely to get better. My mom has always shared that many of my qualities would make me a great pediatric nurse, such as being observant, intelligent, resourceful, and persistent.

My mom is a pharmacist and reminds me daily that roles like Nursing and Pharmacy are all about the patient. Majoring in Nursing will one day position me to be able to save lives, bring smiles to those that are down, provide relief to patients, and give comfort to those that are in need. A Nursing career will bring me a high level of satisfaction because I am making a difference. I enjoy helping people not just through their medical problems but making their daily life better. I aspire of sharing my talents in future years to make a difference in the world. My hope is as a Nurse, I will be able to speak to people about their bad habits impacting their lives while encouraging them to diet, exercise, and be mentally fit.

Graduate school interests

At this time, my #1 priority is to gain a nursing degree. Based on that experience, I will make a determination on which area of graduate studies I will pursue. I know my specialization will be focused on Pediatrics.
