About

I am a dedicated special education teacher with over eleven years of experience in public education, currently serving as a Special Education Teacher and department leader at IDEA Public Schools in Brownsville, Texas. Throughout my career, I have supported students with diverse learning and behavioral needs through inclusive and self-contained settings, coordinated IEP and transition services, coached fellow educators, and delivered professional development focused on effective, evidence-based practices. My work is grounded in the belief that all students can learn when given access, opportunity, and compassionate support. Beyond the classroom, I extend this commitment through community leadership, serving as a board member for Down by the Border, where I support initiatives that benefit individuals with disabilities and underserved populations.
Academically, I have consistently demonstrated excellence and perseverance. I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish Education and Translation with a 3.8 GPA. After gaining some experience as a general education teacher, I became interested in supporting special populations and I became certified in Special Education. I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Special Education with a concentration in Applied Behavior Analysis. My graduate coursework reflects a perfect 4.0 GPA, highlighting my strong foundation in learning sciences, behavior analysis, assessment, and intervention. After years of professional growth, I am now pursuing advanced training with clarity of purpose to strengthen my ability to support students with significant needs, guide educators with confidence, and expand access to effective behavioral and educational resources for families and communities. This scholarship would support my continued academic journey and amplify my long-term goal of fostering inclusive, research-driven, and compassionate educational systems locally and beyond.
