Hello everyone,
My name is April Jones and I’m here to explain to you about myself. I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. No, I wasn’t born deaf but I became deaf. I wear two hearing aids. All my life I had been going to school because education was always important to me. January of 2010, I went to El Centro College to study Culinary Arts and graduated in May of 2013 with a certificate and Associate of Applied Science Degree. I moved here to Las Vegas, Nevada January 5,2014 and live here for 2 years. I started going to UNLV January of 2015 to present. I’m seeking to go College of Southern Nevada as well. I love to cook, read books, go shopping, hanging out with my friends, study different foods styles, being a chef.

Goals and interests
- Career goal
I’m looking to work with a lot of professional chef at the hotel on The Strip. One day, I dream to open up my own business and restaurant too. I want to show the world that a deaf person can own fancy business and large size hotel like the ones on The Strip. I would need to get the specific kind of fund, license, business license, and degree for my businesses. I know it does take step for me to get everything I need to be successful. I’m seeking some serious help and advise first some people who can help me out through it so I can get all of the process done.
- Graduate school interests
When I graduate from University of Nevada, Las Vegas and/or College of Southern Nevada, I would like to be successful in life and doing what I love to do is being a chef. This is my goal after graduate from University of Nevada, Las Vegas/College of Southern Nevada. I want to be able to join the ACF chefs program as well too. I have a lot of plan to do after graduate from colleges. I will make it successful in the future.
- Outside the classroom
My hobbies that I mostly does are cooking different meal at home or having some friends coming over to visit me. I also go to my friend’s house and help them cook and set up food. The other hobbies are reading book because is something I love to do while being at home or riding the bus to a long trip. I like these hobbies that I just list because it keep me busy all the times.
