About

I am currently studying to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. My work experience has always been ER/Trauma/Air Medicine, so eventually I would like to work in a rural ER or Urgent Care center, I have completed significant research on the use of telemedicine in the rural emergency departments and I would love to be a part of some type of research involving the use of telemedicine. I love being a nurse and was very excited upon acceptance to the NP program at TAMU-CC. Patient centered care is something I love dearly and I hope to bring that to all the patients I touch as an FNP.

Goals and interests

Career goal

Someday I would like to work in a rural Emergency Department as a primary care giver. I have significant training in ER and critical thinking skills. I would like to use that training in a rural ER to help make a difference in the level of patient care that is given.

Graduate school interests

I just completed my prerequisites for school so I am not sure what to expect moving forward. I am excited to start my clinical rotations and begin patient care.

Outside the classroom

My past hobbies included 4-H, horse shows, active in Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, tutor for biology, and performed for a group called "Chillin Time" all across Texas. We also performed in Washington DC at the National DARE conference. This group was dedicated to performing for high schools regarding the dangers of drinking, smoking, and unprotected sex. As a flight nurse, I coordinated and participated in many events that were mock drunk driving accidents known as "Shattered Dreams". These events brought to life the trauma of losing someone to a drunk driving accident and were a tool used right before prom and homecomings to promote good choices. Currently, my hobbies are raising my daughter as a single mom and graduate school student. I am currently a student member of San Antonio Nurse Practitioner Association.
