About

My name is Ashirah, and I’m a member of the Class of 2025, ranked in the top 10% of my class. My career path is focused on achieving a Ph.D. in psychology to become a licensed clinical therapist, with the ultimate goal of building my own private practice. I’m also open to careers in fields like law enforcement, social work, childcare, or teaching, as long as they allow me to make a meaningful impact. My mission in life is to help others and make a positive difference in every life I touch, utilizing the skills and knowledge I gain through psychology.

Personally, I’m known for being generous, caring, and empathetic. I love helping others, even if I don’t fully understand their challenges—I’m always willing to try my best to support those in need. I’m a strong advocate for mental health awareness, frequently sharing knowledge with others because, from experience, I know how valuable these insights can be when someone eventually needs them.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I aim to work in settings that require an experienced therapist or counselor, with my ultimate goal being to establish and operate my own private practice. My primary interest lies in providing therapeutic support to clients following their diagnosis, though I am also open to expanding my knowledge in areas such as diagnostic procedures and pharmacology to support comprehensive patient care.

Graduate school interests

Throughout high school, I was consistently intrigued by why I acted the way I did, as well as why others thought and behaved as they did. In my freshman year, I had limited knowledge of psychology, but I was unconsciously learning through my own experiences. One day, my cousin mentioned that she was studying psychology to eventually become a nurse for mental health patients, and ever since then, I’ve been inspired to explore the field. I started watching videos on mental disorders, medications, and various aspects of psychology, always eager to expand my understanding of the subject.

I’ve also loved music and was known for having my headphones on constantly. Beyond the sounds, I’m fascinated by the artists' thoughts, the meaning behind lyrics, and the stories in each song. I often research new artists and find myself especially intrigued by those who have passed away.

Outside the classroom

- Scrapbooking: I like to recycle things and make them into art but cutting and pasting pieces of my collected items.
- Listening to music: increases my mental well-being, along with helping me connect with others through tis common interest.
-Reading: I love horror books, especially if their bases off of a movie.
-Studying Psychology: aside from my professional studies, I like to watch videos on psychology during my free time, especially regarding positive and humanistic theories of psychology. I like to to learn about how I can improve myself, and studying psychology is a great source of knowledge for that topic.
