About
Returning to college at the age of 35, I stand as a testament to resilience and determination, driven by my unwavering desire to be a role model for my two sons. Coming from a low-income family, I faced numerous challenges, including becoming a mother at 17 and losing my own mother at just 15. These life-altering experiences ignited a fire within me to not only raise my younger brother but also to ensure I completed high school, fulfilling my mother’s dying wish. Although the journey has been fraught with obstacles, including moments where I nearly surrendered to despair as a single mother, I have persevered, fueled by the harsh realities surrounding me—seeing so many children fall victim to violence or poor choices has only strengthened my resolve. I refuse to allow my sons to become statistics; instead, I want to empower them to chase their dreams, instilling in them the belief that hard work and education can transform lives. This Program is not merely financial assistance; it represents a lifeline that will enable me to pursue a degree in business administration, a stepping stone toward my goal of opening my own business. By achieving my dreams, I aim to leave a lasting legacy for my sons, ensuring they have the tools and inspiration to succeed in their own lives. Investing in my education is an investment in their future, and with this opportunity, I can demonstrate to them that it is never too late to pursue one’s aspirations, regardless of the circumstances. I am committed to breaking the cycle of hardship and showing my children that with perseverance, anything is possible. Together, we can create a brighter future and prove that dreams can be realized through dedication and hard work.
This Honors Society boosts the opportunity aimed at supporting mothers who aspire to further their education and achieve their dreams. Earning this achievement can alleviate financial burdens related to tuition, books, and other educational expenses, enabling mothers to focus on their studies and personal growth. It emphasizes the importance of education in achieving professional goals and enhancing family life. The Honors society not only represents financial assistance but also serves as a recognition of the dedication and resilience of mothers pursuing higher education. Ultimately, it empowers mothers to invest in themselves, fostering a brighter future for both them and their children
