About

Hi! My name is Ashley, and I’m currently a full-time student at DeVry University, pursuing a degree in Medical Coding and Billing. I’ve maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout my academic journey and am just three classes away from graduation. I’ve always had a passion for healthcare and am excited to use my skills to support patients and providers through accurate, ethical coding and documentation.

In addition to my studies, I run a small business on Etsy where I create and sell handmade, personalized items. Managing my shop while being a full-time student has taught me valuable lessons in time management, commitment, and customer service. It’s also helped me grow personally and professionally — and has earned me recognition as a Star Seller on the platform.

I’m driven by the belief that hard work and consistency pay off, and I’m proud of how far I’ve come. I look forward to continuing to grow, give back, and make a difference in the healthcare field.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I plan to begin my career as a medical coder in a healthcare facility, where I can apply my knowledge of medical terminology, coding systems, and healthcare documentation. My long-term goal is to contribute to accurate patient records and efficient billing processes and eventually grow into a leadership or auditing role within the health information management field.

Graduate school interests

While my immediate focus is completing my undergraduate degree and gaining hands-on experience in medical coding, I’m also considering graduate studies in Health Information Management or Healthcare Administration. I’m passionate about the systems that support patient care behind the scenes, and a graduate degree would allow me to expand my impact, potentially leading to leadership, compliance, or data analytics roles within the healthcare field.

Outside the classroom

In my free time, I enjoy crafting and running my Etsy shop, where I create handmade items. I also love spending time outdoors gardening and fishing, and I find relaxation in reading and caring for my pets.
