About

My name is Ashley Sartain and I am a Sophomore at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. My major is Psychology and I am working towards being a Counselor one day. I have always loved helping people with problems that life throws at them, and decided to continue that love for the rest of my life through counseling. I have been on several missions trips to South Dakota Indian Reservation in Pine Ridge as well as to Malawi, Africa the summer of 2016. On both trips my team and I helped with local work projects, mentoring the youth, serving at local schools, churches, and orphanages, and speaking life and hope over the broken families in those communities. When I am in Tulsa, I serve at several different homeless outreaches and a local foster care shelter. All of these opportunities I see as valuable experience to my future career as a counselor and plan to continue growing in these organizations. I am always open to expanding my knowledge in any area of life, and am determined to reach my goal of obtaining my Master's degree to help more people in the future. Since my parent's got a divorce when I was young, I have been determined to have a strong marriage of my own. With this, I am wanting to more specifically pursue my Master's degree in Marriage and Family Counseling to help other families stick together and have a lasting, healthy marriage.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I wish to achieve my Bachelor's degree in the field of Psychology, and go on to get my Master's degree in Christian Counseling. After graduating, I want to pursue my career in the counseling field and eventually have my own practice. After some time, I would love to work with non-profit organizations for the homeless and provide counseling to them free of charge. I love children, but I also wish to work with adults. I am still deciding on what field of counseling I wish to focus on.

Graduate school interests

Oral Roberts University or Oklahoma State University to pursue my Masters degree in Marriage and Family counseling.

Outside the classroom

I love any type of spontaneous adventures with my friends. Whether that be hiking, shopping at random thrift stores, hammocking, fishing, dancing, I am usually up for anything! My family is very important to me, and I love having quality time with them any time we all are able to get together. I have a passion for serving the homeless community, and any chance my schedule will allow, I go to several different organizations in Tulsa, Oklahoma to help out. I have a passion for Jesus, and I love any activity that has to do with furthering His kingdom. This could be through my church, or my school.
